Verb (Action Words)

A verb is an action word that tells us what someone or something does.

Verbs are words that show action or what is happening!

These verbs show movement and activities:

  • Run - The dog runs in the park 🏃‍♂️
  • Jump - The frog jumps on the lily pad 🐸
  • Eat - We eat healthy food 🍎
  • Play - Children play with toys 🧸
  • Read - I read my favorite book 📖
  • Write - She writes with a pencil ✏️
  • Dance - They dance to music 💃
  • Sing - Birds sing beautiful songs 🎵

These verbs tell us about a state or condition:

  • Am - I am happy 😊
  • Is - The cat is sleeping 🐱
  • Are - We are friends 👫

Try acting out these verbs:

  • Clap your hands 👏
  • Wave goodbye 👋
  • Hop like a bunny 🐰
  • Swim like a fish 🐠
  • Fly like a bird 🦅

Fill in the action word:

Point to different actions around you and name the verb!
