Irregular Verbs (Special Past Forms)

Some verbs are special - they don’t add “-ed” for past tense! These are called irregular verbs.

Rhyming Pairs:

  • See → Saw (like “paw”)
  • Run → Ran (like “pan”)
  • Sit → Sat (like “cat”)
  • Get → Got (like “pot”)

Special Patterns:

  • Come → Came
  • Make → Made
  • Take → Took
  • Have → Had

Yesterday was exciting! I went to the park with my family. We saw many birds and ran around the playground. I sat on the swings and had so much fun! Mom made sandwiches and we ate them under a big tree. Dad took pictures of us playing. When we came back home, I got tired but I was very happy!

“What did I do?”

  • I go swimming → I went swimming
  • I see my friend → I saw my friend
  • I eat breakfast → I ate breakfast
  • I run to school → I ran to school

Irregular verbs are like special friends - they have their own unique way of showing the past! 🌟
